Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care


Mountain Valley Hospice & Palliative Care is about life — more specifically, helping our patients and their families make the most of it. We deliver 24/7 comfort and symptom management to individuals with a life expectancy of six months or less. In addition, we provide their caregivers and loved ones with information, tools and resources for taking care of the patients and themselves.


Provides care via an interdisciplinary team of doctors, hospice aides, nurses, medical social workers, and bereavement coordinators

Has seven offices: Elkin, Mount Airy, Pilot Mountain, and Yadkinville in North Carolina; and Hillsville, Martinsville, and Stuart in Virginia

Has two hospice homes: Joan & Howard Woltz Hospice Home in Dobson and SECU Hospice Care Center in Yadkinville, both in North Carolina

Offers programs Transitions, Kids Path, Pet Peace of Mind, and We Honor Veterans

Participates in the Medicare Care Choices Model, commonly referred to as Care Choices, a study that allows individuals with a serious illness to seek aggressive curative treatment

Has a Re-Sale Shoppe in Mount Airy, NC, that sells gently-used items donated from the community

Has more than 280 employees and 475 volunteers

Named a 2018 Hospice Honors Elite recipient by HEALTHCAREfirst, based on 24 indicators recognizing the highest level of quality from the caregiver’s point of view
