The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care Elects New Directors


The Carolinas Center for Hospice and End of Life Care is pleased to announce its newly elected Board members. Chosen from a talented and dedicated field of hospice providers and savvy professionals, The Carolinas Center attracts a diverse array of experts who are willing to give strategic leadership in a time of great change in the industry. Elected by the membership of The Carolinas Center, James E. (“Tab”) Haigler, Chief Financial Officer, Hospice and Palliative Care of Greensboro will represent Hospice Providers from North Carolina and Veronica McMahon, Executive Director, Lutheran Hospice will represent Hospice Providers from South Carolina. According to Theresa Younis, Chair of The Carolinas Center, “Our newest directors bring a wealth of healthcare experience to the Board and will proffer critical input to the organization’s direction. The Carolinas Center has benefited throughout its history from the vision and expertise its Board has offered. Today is no different.”

On November 14, the Board of Directors of The Carolinas Center appointed the following to serve as Directors At-Large beginning their terms in January 2015:

  • John Barkley, MD, Chief Medical Officer, Post-Acute Care Services, Carolinas HealthCare System (NC)
  • Richard Foster, MD, Senior Vice President, Quality and Patient Safety, South Carolina Hospital Association (SC)
  • Mark Fox, MD, Medical Director, McLeod Hospice (SC)
  • Scottie Gaskins, Senior Administrator, HealthAccess Operations, Vidant Home Health and Hospice (NC)
  • R. Scott Lake, MD, Medical Director, Roper St. Francis Healthcare (SC)
  • Catherine Sevier, PhD, Managing Director, The Generations Study Group and International Health Consultant in Uganda (NC)
